Pursuing its commitment to innovation and technology in language learning, Emery-Roberts in partnership with leading online language training service provider, Language Lab has created a virtual online training platform for pilots and air traffic control officers. This is a unique development in language training for operations personnel. By harnessing the power and flexibility of the Internet, Aviation English Live will make genuine, targeted, communicative language practice available to busy aviation professionals at the touch of a button.

Aviation English Live is for aviation professionals, principally pilots and air traffic controllers who wish to maintain and improve on operational Level 4 as measured by the ICAO rating scale.
This course increases students’ confidence in communication by interacting with our Aviation English teachers and other pilots and air traffic controllers from all over the world. Students will also be able to practise the industry specific skills required for them to succeed in an ICAO English language test. In addition, the course enables students to maintain and develop previously learnt language skills
By using the latest virtual world technology Languagelab and Emery Roberts have created a unique immersive experience where students have classes in a virtual airport and are able to take part in realistic scenarios and discuss topics such as ground services, delays and passenger problems. The main focus of this course is for students to become confident in the language needed to communicate in non-routine or emergency situations during flight operations.
As part of the course, students will also receive a Check your Aviation English course book. However, all materials for the course are available in our virtual English City.
In addition to the 60 hour modular course, Aviation English Live students will have 24/7 access to English City, an English language community with students from 50+ countries. Interaction with students and teachers with different accents will help to improve the language skills required for effective communication in an international environment. By attending these extra General English events students will accelerate their progress.
The modules consist of activities such as incident descriptions and reporting, listening activities in both radiotelephony and on broader aviation topics, role plays and clarification exercises, vocabulary development and speaking.

As part of an Aviation English package we can also offer your employees the Emery-Roberts’ Benchmark English Test for Aviation (BETA). BETA is a quick and cost effective language test to assess current ICAO levels and identify training needs.
