aviation englishThe emery-roberts rater training course delivered in the host country for local teaching staff.

Drawing on experience of working with the ICAO PRICE-SG language sub-group, and as senior Aviation Test designers and examiners the course focuses on the application of the ICAO rating scale to live speech.

The one-week course:

  • analyses the rating scale
  • develops skills in assessing spoken language
  • gives practical guidance on the use of language descriptors
  • raises awareness of the key issues in language testing

Trainees are assessed and certified in rating for benchmark and licensing purposes according to:

  • Level of language proficiency as demonstrated in certificates from recognized English language examinations.
  • Successful rating of speech samples

Trainees are certified by emery-roberts upon successful completion of the course.
