Together with OAA, Emery-Roberts is producing a comprehensive Aviation Familiarisation reference manual. This manual, a core text for the aviation familiarisation module of the ER/ OAA teacher and rater training programmes, will be available for purchase seperately.

The manual is for anyone who wishes to understand the context in which pilots and air traffic controllers work. It is essential for English language instructors who do not have a professional background in aviation, especially those who are new to the field. The material is also useful for other members of the aviation industry who would like to understand the professional activities of operations personnel and the context in which aeronautical communications occur.

Topics covered include…

  • Component parts of the Aircraft
  • Flight systems
  • Key personnel
  • Documentation
  • Airfield layouts
  • Enviromental factors
  • Non routine operations
